Florence is a great city, full of museums, cultural relics of the past and modern entertainment. The huge number of statues and other exhibits that you can see strewn all over the city is simply mesmerizing. Some of the greatest works here are Michelangelo's David and Botticelli’s Birth of Venus. Although 48 hours is too little time to explore the entire city, you can see a lot of places if you plan your days well.

At City Wonders, we offer guided tours of Florence that help you cover the best the city has to offer. Our English-speaking guide accompanies you recounting exciting stories about the history of the city.

Day One

We suggest that you make reservations to visit David and the Birth of Venus so that you can skip the line and save time. At City Wonders, we arrange tickets for you, saving you a great deal of time.

A great way to explore the city is to walk. Start at the Santa Maria del Fiore, also known as Duomo. It is one of the greatest examples of engineering and classic architecture. On the Piazza del Duomo, you can also visit the Campanile and Baptistery. From here, you can walk over to Via del Proconsolo where you can shop for leather products and visit more museums. On your first day in Florence, you can plan to visit the Piazzale degli Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, and Piazza della Republica.

If you're in the mood to treat yourself to a sophisticated meal, visit one of the upscale restaurants at Via del Proconsolo. You might also try one of the local bars or restaurants. If you are on a budget, there are several inexpensive hotels you can find here.
