Description

Treat the fam to a day of exploration at two of the Eternal City’s most popular attractions, the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum with Roman Forum, on our kid-approved Rome family tours created with children aged 7-12 in mind.

We have bundled two of our most popular family activities into this one-day combo, so that everyone gets a thorough taste of the treasures inside the Vatican, including the Sistine Chapel, as well as the world’s most iconic ancient arena and what was once the beating heart of the Roman Empire.

Thanks to the No Wait Entry our Vatican Partnership grants us, your kids will still be full of energy and burning with curiosity as you step into the museum for a visit with a passionate guide, whose insight, stories and games will keep your children engaged for an experience that is both educational and fun at the same time. We have carefully chosen key parts of the museum, weaving a rich narrative that covers not only the Vatican’s timeless masterpieces, but also bite-sized tidbits on the Papacy itself.

Your young travelers will embark on a journey they will never forget as they explore with their guide and imagination to lead them Pope-mobiles, the wonders of ancient Egypt, the Gallery of Maps and Michelangelo's frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. After the tour ends, your guide will show you where to gain direct skip the line access to St. Peter's Basilica, which you will be able to explore at your own pace.

After a break with plenty of time for lunch and a rest, you’ll meet up with us again across town for your afternoon Colosseum Family Tour. There are few historical sites in the world that spark the imagination like this immense amphitheater. With a rich history of emperors, gladiators, lions and mock-sea battles, there is something new and fascinating to discover at every turn.

Role-playing, visual aids and activities will keep everyone involved as the Colosseum and Roman Forum are brought to life. Your guide will enthusiastically narrate the history of this gladiatorial arena through stories and anecdotes about those who fought here and the emperors who decided their fate, creating a vivid picture of the past. Feel free to participate and encourage your kids to ask questions in this open and interactive environment as the glory of Ancient Rome is explored at its top two archaeological sites.

Expert, kid-approved guides lead both tours on this thrilling combo for the whole family. Their enthusiasm, energy and love for working with children are the hallmarks of this experience that you won’t want to miss, and that will make this particular day in Rome one that your kids will talk about for time to come.

Important notes

  • St. Peter's Basilica and other religious sites may be subject to uncheduled closures for religious ceremonies. When this occurs, we will provide guests with an extended tour of the Vatican Museums, or appropriate alternative. While we undertake to tell guests beforehand if there are any planned disruptions to the Basilica's opening hours, this is not always possible. In these cases we are unable to provide refunds or discounts. Please note that appropriate dress is required for entry into some sites on this tour. Knees, shoulders and backs must be covered. Due to increased security measures at many attractions some lines may form on tours with 'No Wait Entry'.

FAQs

  • At the end of the tour, will I be able to explore the Vatican Museums on my own?

No. With our tickets, it is not possible to re-enter the Vatican once you leave as the Vatican tickets are single entry only.

  • At the end of the tour, will I be able to explore the Colosseum on my own?

If you wish to explore the Colosseum on your own after your tour, you should take our Express Colosseum Tour with Gladiator's Entrance and Special Arena Floor Access (with or without Breakfast). This gives you a guided tour of the Colosseum only. After the tour you can choose to either enjoy the skip-the-line entrance tickets to the Roman Forum (our guide would accompany you to enter but the visit is not guided) or stay inside the Colosseum without the guide.

For any other tour however, our tours follow a pattern of visit and you would not be able re-enter the Colosseum without waiting in the line and purchasing an additional ticket.
