Let City Wonders help you to discover the magic and history that Naples hides. This beautiful ‘city by the bay’ sits in an incredible natural context crowned by Mt. Vesuvius, continental Europe’s only active volcano, the islands of Capri and Ischia, not to mention this ancient city’s baroque domes and architecture.
You’ll start your tour at the monumental Neptune’s Fountain and in a short space of time you will be at Castel Nuovo or the ‘Maschio Angioino’, one of the most important symbols of Naples, dominating the Municipio Square, and immediately setting the tone for the tour by displaying Naples’ royal character. Continue your tour by walking with your expert guide to the San Carlo Theatre, the oldest continuously used opera house in Europe, and the iconic Umberto I shopping-gallery, an Art Deco masterpiece of iron and glass, which displays unparalleled creativity and elegance.
From here you will witness the monumental Piazza del Plebiscito, with its fascinatingly domed church, before taking time to enjoy the famous sfogliatella, a local pastry with delicious orange flavored ricotta cream, in town. Coffee culture is almost a religion in this part of the world and your guide will entertain you explaining all the rituals that the locals love to practice, before savoring their favorite drink. Make sure to pair your sfogliatella with a cup of local coffee, as coffee in Naples is renowned as one of the best coffee in Italy.

From here take in your first glimpse of the sea, you’ll walk along the pleasant lungomare promenade to reach Castel Dell’ Ovo. This medieval castle provides us with amazing views over the bay of Naples, Mt. Vesuvius and the famous islands of Capri and Ischia. Then take some time to enjoy Castel Dell’ Ovo panoramic terrace, where you have time to take in the essence of the city from above - the perfect photo opportunity to capture the beauty of Naples!
After some free time to relax at your leisure, we begin your guided tour of the magnificent Archaeological Museum in Naples. Considered to be one of the most important classical museums in the world, particularly for its rich collection of Roman art. The Farnese collection coming from Rome itself displays an impressive range of marbles and Roman statues, such as the famous Hercules and the Farnese Bull, the largest statue recovered from antiquity. The mosaics are the other highlight of the museum: recovered from Pompeii and the neighbouring towns, they show the extraordinary skills that the artist developed with this technique, giving us invaluable insights not only into crucial historical events, but also into everyday life and entertainment at the time.
This tour is a must if you are planning to visit Pompeii and want the complete picture of what the city used to look like when these remarkable works of art and archaeological artefacts were still in place.
We strongly advise against arriving at the meeting point without a booking as we cannot guarantee that there will be space left on the tour. Our guides are unable to accept payment for tours, so any booking made on the spot will still need to be processed over the phone with payment by credit card.
The tour is divided into 2 parts and you will have a 2 hours break.
The tour will conclude at 4 pm and the museum closes at 7.30 pm so you can stay as long as you wish.
