With endless sights, museums and attractions, Paris is a tourist's dream, but making time to do and see everything can sometimes bungle up your trip. City Wonders has solved at least part of that dilemma with a carefully crafted day of art, architecture and history at two of the city’s most beautiful sights — the Musée d’Orsay and Notre Dame cathedral.
Begin your day up close and personal with Van Gogh, Monet, Degas, Cezanne and more as you visit the world’s largest collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings at this Parisian favorite. The Musée d’Orsay is home to some of the world’s greatest painters most beloved and revered works and we’ll help you make the most of your trip. Our English-speaking local expert guides will share fascinating stories of the artists’ lives and loves while imparting information on the radical techniques and inspiration. You’ll hear how these incredible artists not only paved the way for future artistic movements, but how changing society influenced their work and how they transformed the face of art forever.
As midday approaches, we’ll give you a break for lunch and some free time to relax, complete with guide recommendations, then it’s just a short stroll along the banks of the Seine to meet the guide for your next tour. Once you arrive at the Île de la Cité, you and your group of no more than 20 will enjoy a short walking tour of this small island in the middle of the Seine, complete with a visit to the renowned flower market and pass the Conciergerie, the prison that held Marie Antoinette before her execution in 1793.
From there it’s on to Notre Dame cathedral, perhaps the most famous one ever built thanks to more than 200 years of innovative construction. A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, the cathedral’s history will thrill you — from its building methods, to the many details of the façade, to it’s immortalization in Victor Hugo’s classic novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Once you have seen the outside, your guide will lead you inside for a look at its spectacular 13th century stained glass rose windows.
From art to architecture, with a lot of dazzling Parisian sights in between, your day will not only see you skipping past the lines, but learning and experiencing the true history of Paris via two of its most exciting and bewitching wonders.
Due to increased security measures at many attractions some lines may form on tours with 'Skip the Line' access.
