We’ve changed things up a little, to truly experience the best of Naples, you need to have the freedom to experience this city’s incredible energy. With that in mind, we’ve planned your trip so that you get the best of both worlds.
Often overshadowed by Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii, Naples is an incredible Italian city. In fact, when you think of quintessential Italy, you’re really thinking about Naples. With narrow streets connected by a laundry line, the honking horns of cars and Vespas, and people calling from window to window, Naples oozes Italian charm.
Your day trip will start with a short drive in a luxury coach. While you travel around the base of Mount Vesuvius towards Naples, your guide will tell you stories about the area, snippets of its history, the charms of the culture, and the realities of living near an active volcano.
Once you arrive in Naples, you'll begin your 2-hour guided city tour. We'll start with a walking tour around the Centro Storico - the Historic Center. Naples is a city with a long history, ranging all the way back to the Ancient Greeks. We'll begin with the Fountain of Neptune, ironically built by a Catholic Pope, the fountain is one of many depictions around the world of this Pagan God.
You’ll continue on to the Castel Nuovo, one of Naples' most iconic structures. The castle has a long and colorful history and was previously used as a fortress and a royal residence among others. You'll also see the San Carlo Theater, the oldest continuously used theater in the world. We’ll show you all of the important historical buildings and introduce you to a new love for Neapolitan history. Your guide will treat you to coffee and a delicious Neapolitan desert called Sfogliatella to keep your energy levels up, before you take a walk along the Via Chiaia towards the Castel Del’Ovo.
We’ve put aside 4 hours of free time for you to go off and explore the city before traveling back to Sorrento. With the knowledge you've gained on the tour, you can decide what you’d like to see more of. If you're hoping to take the perfect photographs, Naples is the perfect place to start! Everywhere you look, there is something photogenic, from the crumbling walls to the busy streets and historic structures.
