Take a culinary tour of Italy without ever leaving Rome. Our Rome wine tours take you on an adventure through Italy's best wine regions, sampling the most popular and the most prestigious grapes from across the country, with a charismatic expert sommelier as your tour guide. Each glass will be accompanied by specially chosen foods – cheeses, meats and local delicacies traditionally paired with each wine and perfectly complimenting the bouquet.
Our Rome wine tours will be staged in a specially designed tasting facility owned by a famous local restaurant and wine store. Surrounded by wine you’ll take your place at the table with your small group of 20 people or fewer. In this beautiful, intimate space your sommelier will be easy to hear and interact with – and he’ll be happy to answer any questions you have.
Our tasting menu on the day may change from time to time. Our sommelier is a passionate wine-enthusiast, always on the search for the best new (or old) thing, so he may substitute an exciting new find for an old favorite, or let you in on a newly-discovered secret.
A regular day will see us sampling wines like the famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a Rosso di Montalcino and an exquisite Barolo among others.
As you drink your sommelier will help you define the flavors as you taste them and let you in on a few trade secrets. No time for pretensions, he’ll tell you why famous doesn’t always mean good – nor does good always mean famous. He’ll teach you about the science behind wine and how different flavors affect different tasting centers of the tongue, giving you tips on buying Italian wines to suit your palate.
Of course, this gourmet tasting experience isn’t just about the wines. Our sommelier has paired regional delicacies to each wine – so if you’re drinking wine from Tuscany, you’ll also have some favorite local treats, such as surprisingly rare original Parmesan, Pecorino sheep’s cheese, mozzarella and salami. You’ll sample virgin olive oils, often grown alongside the grapes and enjoy selections of gourmet crostini and bruschetta. Our Rome wine tours are about indulging all of the senses, for a more satisfying experience and a carefully planned culinary tour of Italy.
With small group sizes you’ll have time to get answers to all of your questions as you enjoy the entertaining commentary of an expert sommelier in a relaxed and intimate setting.
Whether you’re an intrepid novice or a hardcore wine enthusiast, choose this informal tour for a sophisticated food and wine tasting without the pretensions.
