Description

Start your day with this Vatican tour including breakfast and exclusive access to Vatican City and its gardens. As the only tour operator offering this experience, you'll enjoy something truly unique as you walk into the Vatican before the general entrance is even opened. You will be escorted by your expert guide and a Vatican official to the café for an American and continental breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, croissants, muffins, made to order pancakes, fruit, jam, cereal, espresso, coffee, fresh juice and other cold and hot beverages.

After breakfast, you'll be accompanied to a comfortably shaded open-air bus that will take you on a 45-minute scenic drive through the hidden parts of Vatican City and its 57 acres of lush gardens. Your guide will provide captivating commentary on the personal stories of the popes since 1279 in these beautiful areas dedicated to retreat and meditation. Thanks to our official partnership, you will be among the privileged few to see hidden gems like the Renaissance villa 'Casina Pio IV', the rose garden, the original medieval walls, the Italian garden, Vatican railway station, countless shrines, and the Pope’s private heliport.

After taking a breath of fresh in the greenest country in the world, you will be ready to explore the untold masterpieces inside the Vatican Museums on a comprehensive route covering the most important artworks. Your guide will provide you with details on the techniques and meaning of each work, as well as their historic context and stories they conceal. You will see the galleries of the candelabra, maps and tapestries before arriving at the unrivaled Raphael Rooms, where you will marvel at the 'School of Athens'. Topping the visit is Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel, with its amazing ceiling frescoes and the 'Last Judgement', easily one of the most ingenius human creations of all time.

Learn the surprising truths behind two of the world's most important artistic geniuses as you experience their most coveted achievements first hand. You'll be amazed to hear that Michelangelo actually painted the 'Creation of Adam' standing up, and immortalized boorish commentary for his rivals and patron in his brushstrokes.

From the Sistine Chapel you will benefit from direct access to St. Peter's Basilica, where your guide will take you to see the treasures housed inside the world's most revered cathedral. Continue your study of Michelangelo with the 'Pietà', which he completed at age 24, as well as the inside of the dome he later designed, Bernini's ornate bronze baldachin, and countless other pieces of religious significance at the holiest shrine in Catholicism.

Walk in the footsteps of history with the cardinals, popes, and artists that changed the world forever, and see the beauty of the Vatican grounds on this fascinating tour you will surely never forget.

Gio told us we would see...

Gio told us we would see the whole country in five hours and we felt like we did. The tour (Breakfast, Vatican Gardens, Vatican Museums and St Peters) was very comprehensive. Gio gave us lots of information, and highlighted all the important things to see. This was an amazing tour that we would recommend to anyone. NB there are some stairs and a lot of standing during this tour, so it may not be for everyone. Plus, only two comfort stops in five hours.
