General Info

Last Supper

Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper has been the object of admiration since its creation, and has been reproduced so many times that literally nothing can prepare you for finally seeing the original. Anticipation is further heightened by the fact that entrances are limited. It is an incredibly intimate experience, but make sure to book your tickets well in advance.

Painted from 1495 to 1498, this iconic masterpiece is hidden away in the refectory of the convent at Santa Maria delle Grazie church on a quiet side street in the historic center of Milan. Once inside you will be astonished by both the composition and dimensions achieved by the artist in his portrayal of the moment when Jesus announces he will be betrayed by one of his disciples.

It is a miracle that we can still feast our eyes on it at all, as the painting has been victim to the limits of Leonardo’s innovative and luminous techniques, bad attempts at preservation, as well as a World War II Allied bomb attack. Modern restoration efforts ended in 1999, revealing much of this enigmatic work’s original splendor. See it with City Wonders on our Last Supper and Best of Milan walking tour.

FAQs

  • I want to buy Last Supper tickets only. How can I do that?

A certain allocation of skip-the-line access tickets to see Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece are available every day except for Monday. Many of these tickets are used by our Best of Milan Tour, but those that remain are sold as ‘Tickets only’, bookable no more than 3 days in advance of the date you wish to visit.

Our tickets grant us access to the venue where The Last Supper is held at an allotted time that changes depending on the day. Those who have booked ‘Tickets only’ meet up with the Best of Milan tour group and their tour guide outside the venue.

The guide then leads the group inside, past the lines of people queuing up to gain access, and straight to The Last Supper. As this mural is so popular, only one group is permitted to enter at a time and they can stay for 15 minutes. Our tour group sizes are limited to 25 people or fewer, so there will never be more than this plus a guide inside the room while we visit, making it a wonderfully intimate experience that you will never forget.

  • When can I book the Last Supper Tickets Only?

Last Supper (Only) tickets are put on sale 72 hours in advance of the date, however we cannot guarantee availability. To ensure your place at the Last Supper in advance, we suggest you book our Skip the Line: Best of Milan Tour. Your ticket is included, and is guaranteed.

  • Can I bring my baby for free on this tour?

Due to the Last Supper’s venue regulations, every single person (including all infants) must pay the entry fee.
