See Florence your way on our Best of Florence Private Tours, with your own expert, English-speaking guide for the day, allowing you to set the pace and tailor your itinerary to suit your needs and interests.
Our private tours start at Florence Cathedral where you’ll see the famous dome. So large it needed a brand new method of engineering to construct it, Il Duomo is the most iconic sight of Florence, visible from every high point in the city. Your expert guide will introduce you to the dome from outside, admiring its beautiful red brick and the pink and green marble that cover Florence Cathedral. Then go inside for a guided tour of the interior. We’ll take some time to visit the gold doors of the Baptistery before setting off on the next leg of our adventure, a walking tour of Florence.
Our classic walking tour covers all the most iconic sights of Florence – from the Ponte Vecchio bridge to Piazza Signoria and the leather market. This is your day though, so if there are areas you’d rather visit or if you’d rather linger in one location over another, feel free to request it. Our guides are local experts, familiar with every aspect of Florence so they would be very happy to accommodate you on most requests.
After our walking tour we’ll visit another Florentine show-stopper, Michelangelo’s ‘David’. Top of the must-see list for many visitors, the Accademia Gallery usually has long lines that can stretch for hours. With Skip the Line Access we get straight inside so you won’t waste a precious moment with your guide. Explore Michelangelo’s unfinished ‘Slaves’ and listen to your guide as they point out the little details that tell us so much about how this great Renaissance man worked. Michelangelo considered sculpture to be the highest form of art so his marble creations were a real labor of love for him – a fact that shows in his work.
You’ll be astounded to see what the finished product looks like when you step out of the corridor and into the light-filled dome that houses ‘David’. Earlier in the day you’ll see the original spot where ‘David’ stood in Piazza Signoria along with an exact replica of the work, but nothing can prepare you for the real thing. With your guide’s help you’ll admire the smooth marble and relaxed joints of this masterpiece, learning about what goes into creating such a piece.
With expert, English-speaking guides and Skip the Line Access at the Accademia, we make sure that you get the best from your time in Florence. You’ll visit the two most iconic sights of Florence and wander the streets and piazzas, hearing the stories and history that bring the city to life. And with the added flexibility of having your own dedicated guide, you can make sure that you enjoy your day your way.
Please note that because of religious festivities and on Sundays, access to the Duomo is restricted. Also in the afternoon the Duomo is always closed, in which case a detailed tour will be given from outside. Also on the first Sunday of every month, due to Accademia Gallery’s admission policies, we may not be granted admittance. If this happens we will offer an extended walking tour of the city. Due to increased security measures at many attractions some lines may form on tours with 'Skip the Line' access.
Please note that in case of long queues, it might not be possible to enter the Duomo during the guided tour. In this case the guide will give an explanation from outside.
The Accademia Gallery is closed every Monday, therefore no tours are possible there on those dates.
Our City Wonders coordinators will be wearing blue polo shirts or jackets at the meeting point for easy recognition and holding a sign with the tour name.
